This initiative focuses on identifying, studying, and sourcing some of the rarest and most authentic botanical foods found in nature. The work explores original seed lineages, region-specific cultivars, geographically protected produce, high-altitude harvests, and seasonal botanical resources that exist only within particular ecological environments. By working directly with traditional growers, ecological harvest networks, and geographically unique cultivation zones, the project seeks to preserve authenticity, purity, and traceability in herbs, dry fruits, seeds, and traditional dried foods.

The research not only documents these rare botanical resources but also brings selected discoveries into responsible commercial circulation. As an outcome of this work, the brand SQUIRREL® was established to introduce carefully sourced, high-integrity products to the market, representing some of the most authentic and premium botanical foods identified through this initiative.

/ Overview

The project began as a research effort to identify and document the rarest, purest, and most authentic botanical foods available in nature. Modern supply chains have increasingly commoditized herbs, seeds, dry fruits, and traditional foods, often losing their original lineage, geographical authenticity, and biochemical richness.
Our work focuses on rediscovering authentic sources, including original seed varieties, region-exclusive cultivars, geographically protected produce, high-altitude harvests, and seasonal botanical foods that exist only within specific ecological conditions. The initiative aims to reconnect traditional knowledge, ecological authenticity, and modern market access.

/ Challenges

Several structural challenges were encountered during this initiative. Modern agricultural supply chains prioritize yield and scalability over authenticity, often replacing traditional plant varieties with hybrid cultivars and industrial processing methods. As a result, identifying genuine botanical sources requires extensive field verification, ecological understanding, and supplier validation.
Additionally, rare herbs and region-specific foods are frequently harvested in remote environments or produced in extremely limited quantities, making procurement, quality verification, and consistent supply particularly complex. Ensuring purity, traceability, and authenticity while maintaining commercial viability requires careful sourcing strategies and long-term partnerships.

/ Objectives

The primary objective of the research was to systematically identify and procure botanicals and dried foods that retain their original purity, provenance, and traditional cultivation lineage. This includes rare herbs, authentic seed varieties, region-specific dry fruits, and botanicals known for their superior nutritional or therapeutic value.
The project also aims to establish direct sourcing relationships with traditional growers, ecological harvest networks, and geographically unique cultivation zones, while building a curated collection of high-integrity botanical materials suitable for research, wellness, and premium food markets.

/ Final Outcome

Through this research, we have successfully begun collecting some of the rarest and purest botanical foods, herbs, and traditional dry fruits from authentic geographical sources.


To bring these discoveries to the market while maintaining their integrity and provenance, we have established a commercial brand named SQUIRREL®. Under this brand, selected products derived from our research are now available, representing some of our most notable findings and serving as the first step toward building a larger ecosystem of authentic botanical foods and rare natural resources.
